CANNABIS

With the upcoming legalization of cannabis on October 17th 2018, Ahousaht Chief and Council will engage in the development of policies on the consumption and cultivation of cannabis on or in any Ahousaht property including buildings, and rental apartments. Ahousaht Chief and Council wants to ensure the protection, safety, and well-being of our members.

Sep2018: Associated Engineering put together a design proposal for ISC approval that outlined this project in 17 phases. ISC has assured Ahousaht that it will pay for at least one phase per year with the possibility of one to two additional phases added each fiscal year (up to three phases per fiscal year).

Telus High Speed Internet
Sept 2018 Exterior Cabling is completed to all houses and buildings in Maaqtusiis with internal connectivity aiming to be completed by end of Sept 2018. Microwave internet transmitter was upgraded between Tofino sending tower and Ahousaht receiving antennae.

Bronze: 3mb down, 1mb up - 100 gig data $35+ (Standard Definition)
Silver: 7mb down, 3mb up - 200 gig data $60+ (High Definition 720)
Gold: 10mb down, 3mb up - 340 gig data $90+ (Ultra High Def 1280+Gaming)

  • BMO supports Ahousaht banking for third out of three years - this means our accounts, cash flow, and line of credit are all being used properly and within the parameters of our banking agreement.
  • Ahousaht Financial Law: Ahousaht 5 year financial plan - Ahousaht Managers are working on developing their specific needs operations budget for the community needs today, tomorrow and for years to come. Our goal is to NOT accept what is offered to us, but to insist on what is needed to THRIVE, not just survive.
  • Ahousaht ARFA Renewal 
  • part 1) Ahousaht cannot borrow unless that loan is offset by revenue and the net difference is positive to Ahousaht
  • part 2) Ahousaht must always have a professionally certified accountant in the Director of Finance position
  •  Starting October 2017 Ahousaht Chief, ED/CFO and Manager of Administration will be directly involved in the renewal of the community's block finance renewal with INAC.
