Community Internet Service

Ahousaht First Nation provides community internet service through the Telus network. Accounts Receivable Clerk, Julia Campbell, manages new internet set-ups, account changes, and monthly payments.
Ahousaht's service extends from the microwave transmitter near Thunderbird Hall to the modem installed at your home or business.
Once the internet reaches your modem, any devices connected to it are your responsibility.

This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Wi-Fi routers
  • Computers and laptops
  • Smart TVs
  • Gaming consoles
  • Tablets and mobile devices
  • Other connected equipment

Slow Internet?
Internet speeds can be affected by several factors, including:
  • The number of devices connected to your network
  • How many people are using your Wi-Fi
  • The quality and settings of your Wi-Fi router
  • High-bandwidth activities such as video streaming, online gaming, and large downloads

You may notice faster speeds during quieter times of the day, such as early morning or shortly after lunch, and slower speeds during the evening when more people in the community are online.

Troubleshooting
Before contacting support, try restarting your equipment:
  1. Unplug your modem from the power outlet.
  2. Wait at least 5 minutes.
  3. Plug the modem back in and allow it to fully reconnect.
  4. If you use your own Wi-Fi router, unplug it as well and reconnect it after the modem has finished restarting.
Many internet issues can be resolved with a simple restart, and this is often the first troubleshooting step recommended by technical support.
