Residential School Research Project
The Residential School Research Project works to uncover and document the history and impacts of the residential school system within Ahousaht territory. Through archival research, community engagement, and survivor interviews, the project helps honour the children who attended these schools and supports survivors and their families in sharing their experiences.
The research focuses on the former Ahousaht Indian Residential School on Flores Island and the Christie Indian Residential School on Meares Island, institutions that affected many children and families throughout the region.

- Documenting survivor and family stories
- Identifying children who attended the schools
- Supporting the search for missing children who did not return home
- Helping preserve community knowledge and support healing
